The Climate Adaptation Committee will seek options to make Kittery more resilient in the face of risks associated with warming temperatures and rising seas. 

The Climate Adaptation Committee meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM in Conference Room A.

The Town of Kittery Publishes its Climate Action Plan - June 2024

Kittery's Climate Action Plan is a roadmap for Kittery to reduce emissions and become more resilient to climate impacts.  The plan outlines 29 strategies that are aligned with what Kittery residents have shared as their priorities.  The Climate Action Plan focuses on three priorities:

• Resiliency - The ability to prepare, withstand and recover.
• Electrification - Replacing a carbon fuel economy with clean energy.
• Energy efficiency - Energy saving and reducing waste.

The CAP strategies also consider equity (distributing costs and benefits fairly and minimizing harm to vulnerable groups - and wider co-benefits) broader benefits for health, social well-being, the environment, and the economy.

Thank you to the Climate Action Task Force, Town Council, Municipal Staff, SMPDC, community members, residents and many additional board members, committees and partner organizations that contributed to Kittery's Climate Action Plan.  Your input, feedback and efforts towards a more resilient and sustainable Kittery speaks to how beloved and special this community is.
