The Capital Improvement Committee studies the proposed capital projects and improvements involving major tangible assets and projects which are purchased or undertaken, in intervals of not less than five years, have a useful life of at least five years and cost over $25,000. The Committee consists of 1 Town Council representative, 1 School Committee representative, 2 citizen members, appointed for 3 year staggered terms, School Superintendent or designee, Finance Director and the Town Manager.
The committee may:
- Consider the relative need, impact, timing and cost of these expenditures and the effect on the financial position of the Town.
- Prepare an annual report and recommend a Capital Improvement Budget for the next fiscal year, and a Capital Improvement Program including recommended capital improvements for the following four fiscal years.
