U.S. Forest Service Studying Insects at Fort Foster - Summer 2023

This summer, the U.S. Forest Service will be trapping and collecting insects at Fort Foster for early detection of invasive species, as well as diversity and distribution of native beetles.

Traps will be placed out of sight from where park visitors recreate, off trails and away from roads and beaches. The U.S. Forest Service staff will monitor the traps throughout the season with a sweep net to collect insects.
