Sarah Mildred Long Bridge Inspection - October 18, 2021 - October 22, 2021

Sarah Mildred Long Bridge Inspection

The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will be performing an inspection of the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge from October 18th to October 22nd.  The Federal Highway Administration requires this inspection be completed at least every two years. This is a scheduled inspection to meet that requirement. This inspection work will impact traffic.

Bridge traffic may be periodically reduced to a single, alternating lane on Monday, October 18th and Tuesday, October 19th between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The bridge will be closed to traffic periodically between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20th and Thursday, October 21st. During these two days, four full closures are expected. Each closure will be limited to no longer than 90 minutes. Traffic will be detoured to the Memorial Bridge or the Piscataqua River (I-95) Bridge during bridge closures.

In addition, the lift span will be operated over the course of the week at non-peak travel times for the purpose of inspection of the mechanical and electrical components. These operations will not detour traffic and will be similar to a bridge lift for ship passage.

This schedule may change due to weather conditions.
