The Town is undertaking a grant-funded study with the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) to evaluate how Route 1, north of Memorial Circle to the Town of York border, should be improved for traffic safety, and enhanced mobility for pedestrians and cyclists.   The goal of the study is to find ways to make Route 1 safer and more comfortable for people working, living, traveling, and shopping in the area.

As an important first step, the Town of Kittery is hosting a Public Information Session at 6:00 PM tonight, Wednesday, September 27, 2023, in Council Chambers and Zoom.  The meeting will provide the public with an opportunity to hear from the project team, get an overview of the study and review existing conditions of the area.  Meeting attendees are invited to learn about the project and provide comments and feedback during the meeting.
