Kittery Point Bridge Rehabilitation Work Update - May 13, 2020

Kittery Point Bridge Rehabilitation Work

Update - May 13, 2020:

The rehabilitation work on the Kittery Point Bridge has entered Phase 2 and work will now be taking place on the adjacent sidewalk.  The project work will require the sidewalk to be closed off, with no pedestrian traffic allowed during contruction.  During these closures, pedestrians are strongly encouraged not to walk across the bridge in the traffic lane, but to turn around.

The sidewalks will be re-opened to pedestrians during the nights and weekends, as construction allows.

Beginning Monday, April 20, 2020, rehabilitation work will begin on the Kittery Point Bridge, along Whipple Road and Pepperell Road. The rehabilitation work will take approximately 8 weeks to complete, pending favorable weather conditions.

The bridge will be reduced to one-lane of alternating traffic to allow for this work to be completed. Pedestrian traffic may be impacted and limited during working hours. The public is encouraged to seek an alternate route during this time.

Equipment operation and construction within the confines of roadways is very difficult and safety is always a concern. Please be sure to drive slowly and carefully through the work area to ensure the safety of other drivers, as well as our staff.
