Library Temporarily Closing to Move
Kittery Library Temporarily Closing to Move

The future of the Rice Public Library is almost here!

To prepare for its exciting re-opening, the library will be temporarily closing to accommodate the move into the new building.  To continue enjoying the library’s services and resources during the transition, please take a look at the important dates and information below:

April 1, 2022

The last day to place holds for borrowed materials through Minerva is Friday, April 1, 2022.  Any requests made after April 1, 2022 will be fulfilled once the library reopens.

During this time, check out limits will be lifted and all due dates will be extended until the library reopens.

April 9, 2022

The last day the Taylor Building will be open to the public is Saturday, April 9, 2022.  After this date, both the Rice and Taylor Buildings and parking lots will be closed to all traffic to facilitate the move.

Library staff will be working hard to get the renovated Rice Public Library building ready to open. As a result, staff will only be available to answer questions about library services, Minerva and the move until April 9, 2022.  After this date, staff will be unavailable to assist with requests, returns and other library services until the building reopens.

Patrons are asked to hold the return of all borrowed items until the library reopens as book returns will be closed.  No overdue fines will be charged during this time.

Online Services & Resources

Patrons are encouraged to access the library’s wide array of online services, which will remain available during the closure:
