Freebie Barn Community Swap in February - Thank You!

The Town of Kittery held another Freebie Barn Community Swap at the Kittery Community Center on Sunday, February 26, 2023.  We’d like to extend an enormous thank you to our amazingly dedicated volunteers, community partners, Town staff and Freebie Barn visitors for helping to make this event such a success.

The Community Swap continues to provide an incredible opportunity for community support and connection, as well as reducing the number of items that end up in the waste stream.  Members of the Kittery community and beyond came out to donate gently used items, and peruse items they were in need of but may not have had the funds, opportunity or ability to procure on their own.  

In addition to finding ways to repurpose everyday items and divert them from entering the waste stream, items remaining at the end of the event were transferred to February's Community Partner, Fair Tide.  Fair Tide was able to take home a number of dishes, kitchen equipment and small appliances, to make available at their Thrift Store which funds their programs and supports the families they serve.  These items will bring immeasurable joy and comfort to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the Kittery area.

So, what’s new for the month of March? We’re glad you asked!  The Freebie Barn’s monthly theme for March is: tools (workshop, hand tools, gardening tools, etc.) and our Community Partner is NH ReStore.  Proceeds from ReStore's retail outlet benefit SENH Habitat for Humanity’s mission of providing safe, decent, affordable, and energy-efficient housing to hard-working, low-income families. The next Freebie Barn Community Swap will take place on Sunday, March 26, 2023.
