COAST Bus Offers Public Transit in Kittery

COAST public transit in Kittery
Travel from Kittery, to Portsmouth and beyond with COAST!

After extensive planning and outreach with public transit riders, community members and more, COAST’s newly redesigned public transit system officially launched on Monday, June 29. 2020.

The redesigned Route 44, runs on the hour, Monday through Friday with stops located on Government Street, at Gate 1 of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and Walker Street in Kittery, before making its way into Portsmouth with stops at Daniel/Chapel streets and the parking garage on Hanover Street.  At the Hanover Station, riders can connect to other transit routes, with stops located throughout Pease, Dover, Somersworth and Rochester.

The Joint Land Use Study, created in partnership with the Town of Kittery, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission, identified public transit as a significant need in Kittery.  The new transit route builds on the town’s on-going efforts to provide public transportation alternatives for Portsmouth Naval Shipyard employees, and ease the burden of single occupancy vehicles on local Kittery roads.
