CDBG Microenterprise Grants Available for Maine Small Businesses

Small Business Grants SMPDC

Applications for the CDBG Microenterprise Grant Program, facilitated by the Southern Maine Planning & Development Commission (SMPDC), are available for Maine small businesses.  The grant program offers up to 10,000 in forgivable loans to low to moderate income micro businesses to help start or grow their businesses.

Eligibility Requirements
 
  • 5 or fewer employees including all owners, at time of application.
  • Low to moderate household income for the previous 12 months. Of all owners and all adult household members (see chart below for income requirements)
  • Must meet with a business advisor. The application can not be completed without a connection to an advisor.
  • Must have a Unique Entity ID (UEI). 
    • The federal government no longer uses DUNS numbers.  For more information transitioning to a UEI, please click here.
  • Cannot have received a previous CDBG grant at time of application.

Once received, applicants will be assigned a SBDC business advisor and applications will be screened for eligibility.
