On August 21, 2023, the Kittery Town Council established a Traffic and Parking Ad Hoc Committee.  The committee is charged with working alongside a professional traffic engineer to evaluate various traffic and parking control measures and develop a Town policy for how and when desired traffic and parking control measures will be implemented.  The Committee will look at speed bumps, variable speed signs, speed limit reductions, one-way conversions, resident permit parking programs, signage, road diets and reconfigurations, among other measures for incorporation into the policy.

The Traffic and Parking Committee will consist of the following members, selected to represent a broad range of interested parties, jurisdictional authorities, and advisory entities in Town: up to 5 at-large residents appointed by the Town Council, 2 Town Councilors appointed by the Town Council, up to 2 representatives from the Kittery business community (own/manage a business or commercial property in Kittery) and representatives from the Economic Development Committee, and the Climate Adaptation Committee.
