The Town of Kittery's Energy & Climate Planning Efforts Recognized in Maine Town & City Magazine

Kittery Recognized in Maine Town & City Magazine 2022

In the latest edition of Maine Town and City Magazine, the Town of Kittery has been recognized as one of the communities in Maine leading the way in long-term thinking and planning for energy and climate resiliency.  

In the article, Karina Graeter of the Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission (SMPDC) recommends municipalities take climate change into consideration when updating comprehensive plans, regulations and ordinances.  Graeter remarked that “Kittery is a good example of why that works”, referencing the Town’s continued resiliency efforts, highlighted by the integration of coastal community resilience planning within the Comprehensive Plan, and a wide range of sustainability resources and initiatives offered to the community.
