Important Party Change Information for the June 11, 2024 Town Meeting & School Budget Validation Referendum & State Primary Election

The Town Meeting & School Budget Validation Referendum & State Primary Election is taking place on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Kittery Community Center from 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM.  To be prepared to vote on Election Day, please see below for important deadlines related to party changes and ballot options.

Changing Party Enrollment

Voters that would like to withdraw or change their party enrollment are required to do so at least 15 days prior to the election.  The deadline to withdraw or change party enrollment and be eligible to vote in the Town Meeting & School Budget Validation Referendum & State Primary is May 24, 2024 by 1:30 PM.

Party changes will not be allowed after May 24, 2024 or on Election Day (June 11, 2024).

Unenrolled Voters
Voters that are unenrolled in a political party may change their enrollment to a qualified party, at any time.  The 5 Qualified Parties in Maine are:
 
  • Democrat
  • Republican
  • Libertarian
  • No Label
  • Green Independent

Please note that a voter must remain in a party for 3 months before withdrawing enrollment or changing parties.

If you’re unsure of your party enrollment or have questions about making changes, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office during regular business hours and they will be happy to help you.  The Town Clerk’s Office is open Monday - Wednesday from 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Thursdays from 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM and Fridays from 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM.
