Sidewalk Projects

The Town is working multiple sidewalk improvement projects in partnership with Maine DOT and Kittery Area Comprehensive Transportation System (KACTS). Below is a summary of the projects and their status:
Route 103 Improvement Projects - MaineDOT WIN 18653.00
(Walker/Wentworth Sidewalk)
In November 2023, MaineDOT selected Glidden Excavating and Paving to complete construction improvements at Walker/Wentworth. This project will include grading, base and pavement, roadway overlay with drainage adjustments and traffic signal replacement.

Pedestrian & Bike Master Plan (Town/KACTS Project)
The project will result in a priority list of sidewalk maintenance, upgrades, and extensions, similar to our pavement management plan. Projects will be prioritized using both technical standards (physical condition, ADA compliance) and community input (extensions, expansions). The plan will be incorporated into the Capital Improvement Program as a tool to plan for capital investment, grant applications, and project planning. Stevenson Sidewalk Extension (Town Project)
Spring 2024:
- The Town of Kittery is moving forward with design engineering. An Invitation for Bids will go out late spring 2024 for design engineering.
