Nor'Easter Storm Preparation

storm warning

UPDATE: Seapoint Road and Payne Road have been reopened.  These roads and others may be closed temporarily in the late evening hours if flooding reoccurs.

With a nor'easter on the way, the Town of Kittery wants you to be informed and prepared:

The nor’easter is expected to move into southern Maine beginning early Friday morning and ending by Saturday afternoon.  The storm is predicted to bring sustained winds of 25 mph to 40 mph with potential gusts up to 60 mph, along with heavy rain.  We are also anticipating wave surge, splash over, and flooding of some areas.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to secure all loose items in yards and driveways for the duration of the storm.  Watercraft and floats should also be secured in anticipation of wave surges.

Kittery roads may experience flooding during the storm.  Roads that are particularly vulnerable to flooding include Seapoint Road, Payne Road, and Crockett Neck Road.  Flooded roads will be closed temporarily for safety purposes.  Please use extreme caution if you plan to visit Seapoint Beach during duration of the storm.  Seapoint Road may be impassible due to flooding, stranding residents and visitors temporarily.

If you encounter downed tree limbs in roadways, please contact the Kittery Police Department at 207-439-1638.  Do not attempt to move or touch any downed wires, as they may be an electrical shock hazard.  If you lose power during the storm, please contact Central Maine Power at 1-800-696-1000.

Please stay dry and be safe, everyone!
