Maine Turnpike Authority Route 236 Bridge Repair Work Update - Thursday, June 15, 2023

Update - June 15, 2023

Phase 1 of the construction repair work taking place on the Route 236 Bridge is proceeding ahead of schedule.  As a result, the project team has moved into Phase 2, with the intention of finishing the work by the original June 15, 2023 deadline.

The June 15, 2023 deadline may be extended by a couple of weeks, if necessary, to get the work completed.  Extending the deadline in June would allow the project team to wrap up construction without the additional 60-day lane closure that was originally scheduled for the fall 2023.

Original Post - April 2023

The Maine Turnpike Authority (MTA) is scheduled to begin Phase 1 of the Route 236 Bridge construction repair work, starting Monday, April 17, 2023.  The Route 236 Bridge project work will include pavement and membrane replacements, deck expansion joint modifications, median repairs and approach work.

The bridge will remain open during construction, however traffic will be reduced to one lane to complete much of the work.  Phase 1 is expected to be completed by June 15, 2023.

Equipment operation and construction within the confines of roadways is very difficult and safety is always a concern.  Please be aware of those working in the construction area and drive safely.

If you have any concerns or questions about this project, please contact MTA Public Outreach Manager, Erin Courtney at 207-482-8119 or ecourtney@maineturnpike.com.
