Geological Research Taking Place at Fort Foster - August 6, 2023 - August 10, 2023

This August, researchers from the University of Texas at Austin will be conducting geology research at Fort Foster.  Due to the outcroppings of rocks along the beach at Fort Foster, the park provides an excellent opportunity to study the geological history of earthquakes.  

The research is expected to take place from Sunday, August 6, 2023 - Thursday, August 10, 2023.  The work at Fort Foster will be completed by two researchers, primarily at low tide.  During this time, park visitors may observe researchers capturing photographs, collecting rock samples and measuring rock outcroppings along the beach.
