The Town of Kittery recently announced the launch of the Spruce Creek Watershed-Based Management Plan Update which includes a watershed inventory survey and water quality monitoring throughout the summer.

As part of those efforts, the Town of Kittery, in collaboration with Save Kittery Waters and the Great Bay-Piscataqua Waterkeeper are hosting a hybrid Water Reporter training event tonight, Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 4:00 PM.  The hybrid training event will take place in the Kittery Town Hall Conference Room A, and on Zoom.

To register via Zoom, please click here.

The one-hour training event will provide attendees with the basics of documenting watershed conditions using the Water Reporter app.  Volunteers and community members can use the Water Reporter app on their smartphones to photograph conditions they see around town and share the data they collect with the Great Bay-Piscataqua Waterkeeper Group within the app.

The Water Reporter app is available for both Apple and Android devices:

The documentation collected from the Water Reporter app can help spur emergency responses to pollution and algal blooms, and document evidence of climate change. Over time, Water Reporters’ contributions are helping us assemble a collection of visual data on the health of Spruce Creek and how it may be changing.

Help protect our cherished waterbodies by joining us on September 12th and becoming a Water Reporter today! For more information, please contact Public Works Inspector Jessa Kellogg at (207) 752-7242 or JKellogg@kitteryme.org.
