About Fort Foster

Fort Foster is a local treasure, as well as a complex and vital natural resource providing habitat to native and endangered animals, plants and trees. Whether visiting during the regular season, or off-season, visitors are asked to carry out all litter, trash and pet waste in an effort to protect this vital natural resource for our generation and generations to come.

Fort Foster visitors will see exciting new park signage that reflects the newly updated park rules and regulations, and encourages everyone to help protect this vital natural resource. To view the updated Fort Foster Park rules, please click here.

Park visitors may also notice signage indicating that invasive plant removal operations inside Fort Foster are underway. The Town developed the Invasive Species Management Plan in 2020 and recommendations in the plan focus on controlling existing invasive plants and eradicating new ones, with the goal of restoring the dominance of native plant communities throughout the park.
