Town of Kittery Responds to Threats Reported at Sanford High School

This morning, the Town of Kittery received a report of a potential active shooter situation at Sanford High School.  A number of Traip Academy students attend the Sanford Regional Technical Center at Sanford High School.

The safety of our students is of utmost importance and the Town of Kittery takes these matters very seriously.  In response, the Town's Emergency Response Team was activated, including the Town Manager, Kittery Police Department, Fire Department, and School Superintendent.  Additionally, the Kittery Police Department School Resource Officer was dispatched to assist in Sanford.

As of 9:03 AM, the Maine Information Analysis Center (MIAC) issued a notification that the reports of an active shooter at Sanford High School and other locations in Maine are believed to be a hoax.

The Town of Kittery will continue to monitor the situation.
