COVID-19 Update - March 7, 2022:

Residential households in the U.S. are now able to order an additional eight free at-home COVID tests from the federal government.  To order your free at-home tests, please click here. 

Those who have difficulty accessing the internet or need additional support placing an order can call 1-800-232-0233 to get help in English, Spanish and more than 150 other languages, 8:00 AM - midnight, EST, 7 days a week.

COVID-19 Update - March 7, 2022:

Following the most recent information from the State of Maine and U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Town of Kittery will be lifting its mask requirement in municipal buildings.  

Effective Wednesday, March 9, 2022, the Town will transition to “Masks Optional” in all municipal buildings.  Disposable masks will remain available in municipal buildings, for those that want or need to continue wearing them.  The Town of Kittery will continue to monitor State and Federal COVID-19 assessments for York County and will make adjustments to these guidelines as necessary.

Please continue to stay home if you feel sick, and get tested if you have COVID-19 symptoms or believe you were in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.  COVID-19 Test kits are free from the federal government, and can be ordered by filling out a simple form located here.  Each household is eligible to receive four free tests (two per kit).

Ahead of school vacation next week, the Mills Administration announced today that it has expanded eligibility for Project Access COVID Tests (ACT), a partnership between the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and the Rockefeller Foundation that mails free COVID-19 tests directly to the homes of Maine people. Tests are now available statewide, with every household in Maine eligible to order one set of five at-home rapid tests, regardless of ZIP code of residence.

The program is limited to one order per residential address during this first phase of the project.  No payment information is required — both the tests and shipping are free to residents – and the tests will be delivered through Amazon approximately one week after ordering.

COVID-19 Update - January 18, 2022:

Residential households in the U.S. can begin ordering rapid COVID-19 tests from the federal government, free of charge.  Each household is eligible to receive 1 order of 4 tests, which are set to begin shipping via the United States Postal Service in late January.

COVID-19 Update - November 18, 2021:

Governor Mills announced that effective immediately, all Maine adults age 18 and older are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster shot, regardless of underlying medical condition if:

• They completed the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series at least six months ago; OR
• They received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months ago.

COVID-19 Update - May 12, 2021:

Maine's COVID-19 Vaccine Incentive Program - Your Shot to Get Outdoors!

The State of Maine has launched an outdoor-centered incentive program aimed at encouraging Maine people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before the summer season begins.

The public-private initiative, called “Your Shot to Get Outdoors,” is led by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and brings together the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, L.L.Bean, the Portland Sea Dogs, and Oxford Plains Speedway to offer incentives to get Maine people vaccinated and engaged in outdoor activities.

Effective immediately through May 31, 2021, any Maine resident age 18 and older who gets their first shot of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine in Maine will qualify to receive a variety of rewards.

Town of Kittery Reopening Update

Following the State’s lifting of some COVID-19 restrictions and safety protocols, the Town of Kittery will be following suit by beginning its next phase of reopening. 

Effective April 1, 2021, the Town will end its local Emergency Proclamation, and begin lifting some restrictions to allow for many services and activities to resume with appropriate safety precautions. 

The Governor’s Emergency Declaration and Executive Orders regarding face coverings, gatherings and capacity limits remain in effect, and will continue to govern safety protocols in public spaces and private businesses in Kittery.

COVID-19 Update - March 29, 2021:

Local Vaccination Clinic - May 4, 2021 - Gorges Road Fire Station

The Kittery Fire Department is hosting a local vaccination clinic on May 4 at the Gorges Road Fire Station.  Any eligible resident of Maine may sign-up for the vaccination by clicking here.

The Fire Department is pleased to be able to offer this vaccination clinic in our area.  Chief David O’Brien is coordinating the vaccination clinic through the Incident Management Team of the York County EMA.  He is working with our team of Firefighters, and Stewards Ambulance Service to ensure a safe and efficient process for administering shots in one day.   This is not a drive-through clinic. 

We are encouraging residents in the Kittery/Eliot area to sign up.  We understand traveling to a supercenter or York may be a challenge for some of our residents. This clinic offers a closer option to get vaccinated.

The Fire Department is hoping to host additional clinics in the coming months, as the State of Maine continues to accelerate access to vaccine throughout the state.

There are now more transportation options for Mainers who need a ride to and from a COVID-19 vaccination appointment.  Free transportation is available for people who do not have access to reliable transportation, are unable to drive, or are otherwise unable to travel to their appointment.

  • Educators and Child Care Providers are encourages to use pharmacies indicated by state (Hannaford, Walgreen's and Walmart) as their vaccine supply is being dedicated solely to educators, and you are likely to be scheduled sooner for your vaccine.

COVID-19 Update - September 23, 2020:

The state of Maine has announced the launch of Phase II of the Maine Economic Recovery Grant Program, providing financial relief to small businesses and nonprofits in Maine. Eligibility for the grant program has been expanded. 

The online application portal will open for Phase II on September 23, 2020 and remain open until October 23, 2020.

COVID-19 Update - September 2, 2020:

Effective Tuesday, September 8, 2020, Fort Foster will be open on weekends only.

• Parking will be prohibited within 75 feet of the gate to provide safe turn-around space for vehicles.  
• Parking will be available on the outbound side of Pocahontas Road.
• Parking will be prohibited on the inbound side of Pocahontas Road.

Per CDC guidelines, dogs must be on leash at Fort Foster at all times.

Please observe all signage to insure safe social distancing in the parking lots, trails, and open areas. Face masks are recommended for all visitors.

COVID-19 Update - August 25, 2020:

Kittery’s small businesses have been hit hard by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Now, there is a new program aimed to help struggling small businesses attempt to recover from the economic downturn. 

The state of Maine has announced the Maine Economic Recovery Grant Program, providing financial relief to small businesses and nonprofits in Maine. Businesses with 50 employees or fewer are eligible to apply.

The Town of Kittery has launched a brand new PSA, in collaboration with the York Region Chamber of Commerce and the Town of York.

COVID-19 Update - July 22, 2020:

The Town of Kittery invites artists and/or designers to project their imagination and creativity onto the concrete barriers in the Foreside, to transform them into public art.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Kittery, in partnership with local stakeholders and the business community, reconfigured segments of its roadway and pedestrian infrastructure to accommodate businesses to extend their operations on town sidewalks.  To do so, the Town put concrete barriers into the streets to protect pedestrians and patrons on the new sidewalks.

Artists and designers interested in contributing to this public art effort are encouraged to complete the newly launched Street Barrier Beautification Application, to propose their creative design ideas for the barriers.

COVID-19 Update - May 29, 2020:

The Planning and Code Office will resume services by appointment only, beginning Monday, June 1, 2020. To make an appointment, please contact 207-475-1304.

Upon arriving at Town Hall, customers will be asked to call the Planning and Code office, or the staff member they have an appointment with, and they will be met outside to be escorted into the office.

COVID-19 Update - May 28, 2020 Cont.:

Fort Foster

Fort Foster will open for regular hours, effective June 8, 2020. The gate will be open daily from 10:00 AM to dusk or 8:00 PM (whichever comes first).

The park will be open to all valid seasonal and day pass holders.  Please note that no cash transactions will occur at the gate at this time.

• Seasonal passes are available for purchase at the Town Hall Customer Service Center, and online by clicking here. 
• Day passes are only available online, by clicking here.  

Parking outside of the gate will remain restricted on Pocahontas Road to provide safe turn-around space for vehicles and to avoid unsafe conditions at the gate.

During this phase:

• Beaches and playground will be open.
  • The playground will not be disinfected.  Visitors are advised to use at the playground at their own risk.
• Portable toilets will be available.
• Pavilions will remain closed.

To prevent unintended contact with other visitors, dogs must be leashed at Fort Foster at all times.

Signage will remind visitors to observe safe social distancing in the parking lots, trails, and open areas. Face masks are recommended for all visitors.

Seapoint & Crescent Beaches

Seapoint Beach and Crescent Beach will be open, effective June 8, 2020.

Per Kittery town ordinance, dogs are prohibited on the beach between 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, June 15 - September 10.  To prevent unintended contact with other visitors, dogs must be on leash at all other times.

The Town is reopening public spaces in accordance with the Governor’s guidelines. Changes may occur as the Governor’s guidelines change, or if conditions make it unsafe for visitors and staff.

COVID-19 Update - May 28, 2020:

Town of Kittery Harbor

The State of Maine has provided further clarification regarding out-of-state mooring holders and out-of-state boaters looking to access facilities and their boats at this time:

Out-of-state mooring holders and out-of-state boaters can access facilities, their boats and launch boats from facilities in Maine, but they cannot engage with others while doing so. If out-of-state boaters intend to use local businesses or services in Kittery, they must quarantine for 14 days in Maine in accordance with the Governor’s order before doing so.

We would like to thank the State of Maine for the clarification on this matter.

COVID-19 Update - May 26, 2020:

The Resource Recovery Facility (KRRF) will resume normal hours and activities beginning Tuesday, June 2, 2020.  Customers will be expected to maintain social distancing while at the windows.

Effective June 2, 2020:

• Hours of operation for household trash and recycling: Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Hours of operation for resource recovery and hazardous waste: Wednesday and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The freebie barn will remain closed at this time.

Residents looking to get a KRRF sticker can now do so in-person at the Town Hall Customer Service Center, Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM or contact-free by clicking here and applying online.

Please note: the Resource Recovery Facility will continue to observe it’s temporary COVID-19 schedule, from now through the end of May, 2020.

COVID-19 Update - May 13, 2020:

Governor Janet Mills has issued an Executive Order “Regarding Certain Municipal and Taxation Matters”.  The new order, effective May 12, 2020, orders the following:

• A vehicle required to be registered in this State for which a registration expires or has expired must be registered within 30 days of the effective date of this Order.
• “Vehicle” includes without limitation a motor vehicle, all-terrain vehicle, watercraft, snowmobile and trailer and “registration” includes temporary registrations.

• Previously registered vehicles can be reregistered online by clicking here.
• Vehicles purchased from a dealership, can be processed by the Town Clerk via mail. 
  • To use this service, complete the New Vehicle Registration form and mail it to Town Hall. The form can be found on the Town Clerk's page by clicking here.
  • The Town Clerk’s Office will confirm receipt of each request by phone or email and communicate with the applicant regarding applicable fees.

Town Hall option

• The Kittery Town Hall Customer Service counter is now open during regular business hours, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, to assist residents with vehicle registrations.
• Residents are asked not to get in line at Town Hall unless they have all necessary vehicle registration documentation with them.

COVID-19 Update - May 7, 2020:

The Kittery Town Hall will reopen for limited services beginning Monday, May 11, 2020.  The Customer Service counter will be open during regular business hours, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, to process vehicle registrations, boat registrations, marriage licenses, issue KRRF stickers, and Fort Foster passes.

COVID-19 Update - May 2, 2020:

In accordance with the Governor’s Stage 1 Reopening Guidelines, The Town of Kittery will begin reopening public spaces and services.

The Kittery Resource Recovery Facility (KRRF) will be open on Saturday, May 9, 2020 and Saturday, May 23, 2020 from 7:15 AM to 3:15 PM for hazardous waste and landfill items only. Waste gas, waste oil, waste antifreeze and paints will not be accepted.

Regular trash and recycling disposal will be closed on these days to facilitate the drop off and processing of hazardous waste and landfill materials.

Signage will remind visitors to observe safe social distancing from staff and other customers. Customers will be required to wear face masks when they are not in their vehicles.

The Town is resuming limited service in accordance with the Governor’s guidelines. Changes may occur as the Governor’s guidelines change or if conditions make it unsafe for customers and staff.

COVID-19 Update - May 2, 2020 Cont:

In accordance with the Governor’s Stage 1 Reopening Guidelines, The Town of Kittery will begin reopening public spaces and services.

Fort Foster will open for limited access starting Saturday, May 9, 2020. The gate will be open daily from 8AM to 4PM.

Visitors must have a current or last year’s KRRF (dump) sticker or show proof of residency to access Fort Foster.

During this phase:

• There will be no fee for entrance.
• Day passes and walk-ins will not be permitted.
• The bathrooms, beaches, the playground, and pavilions will remain closed.
• The Dive Beach parking will be closed.

To achieve proper social distancing only 90 vehicles will be allowed in the park at any time. Vehicles must park 10 feet apart to allow for safe distancing from other visitors.  If 90 vehicles are in the park, the next visitor-vehicle will have to wait for a car to exit before being permitted to enter. Parking outside of the gate will remain prohibited to provide safe turn-around space for vehicles and to avoid unsafe conditions at the gate.

COVID-19 Update - April 28, 2020 Cont:

Beginning Tuesday, April 28, 2020 the Town Clerk’s Office will be assisting residents with the registration of new vehicles.  The new registration process will be contact free, in an effort to keep both the public and staff safe during the State of Emergency related to COVID-19.

To register a new vehicle:

• Complete the Motor Vehicle New Registration Form, located here. 
• Mail the completed form, along with all required documentation to the Town of Kittery, located at 200 Rogers, Road, Kittery, ME 03904.

The Town Clerk’s Office will confirm receipt of each request by phone or email and communicate with the applicant regarding applicable fees.

This form is for new registrations of vehicles purchased through a dealership only.  Private sales and state-to-state transfers will be need to be processed in-person, once Town Hall has reopened for customer service.

COVID-19 Update - April 28, 2020:

Open burning will be allowed in Kittery, beginning May 1, 2020.  Permits are required and may be obtained online at maineburnpermit.com.  Permits will not be available at Kittery Dispatch. 

Warming and cooking fires (campfires) do not require a burn permit, however burning brush or leaves in a fire pit is not considered a warming or cooking fire and therefore, does require a permit. 

The State of Maine sets a Fire Danger Level, daily. Permits will not be issued on days classified as “high” or beyond high.  Permits are issued through the State for 48 hours.  Due to this, it may be possible to receive a permit on a low/moderate class day and have the class change to “high” the next day.  The permittee is required to verify the class day after 9:00 am on each day of burning.

COVID-19 Update - April 14, 2020:

The Kittery Council approved the postponement of Kittery’s Secret Ballot and School Budget Referendum to coincide with the State Primary Election, currently scheduled for July 14, 2020. No polling will take place on June 9, 2020.

Governor Janet Mills has issued an Executive Order moving Maine's primary election from Tuesday, June 9, 2020 to Tuesday, July 14, 2020. The order is effective immediately.

• The Order allows applications for absentee ballots to be made in writing or in person, without specifying a reason, up to and including the day of the election.
• The Order extends the deadline for qualifying contributions under the Maine Clean Election Act to May 19, 2020.

COVID-19 Update - April 10, 2020:

As part of the Town's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, firefighters and apparatus normally stationed at the Lewis Square Station in Kittery Point were moved to the Gorges Road Station on the Route 1 Bypass.  This was necessary to provide adequate supervision to ensure firefighter safety, to distribute personal protective equipment in an efficient manner and to ensure the Lewis Square Station remains uncontaminated in the event that the Gorges Road Station becomes contaminated and must be vacated for cleaning. 

These changes in operation will not negatively affect the quality of service for the residents of Kittery and the Fire Department stands ready to respond to any, and all emergencies.

COVID-19 Update - April 7, 2020:

In an effort to work with residents who may be experiencing adverse effects as a result of the COVID-19 emergency, the Town Council has approved the following changes related to real estate and personal property taxes, sewer charges and mooring fees. 

• The tax payment due date has been extended to July 15, 2020 to assist with those who may be experiencing financial difficulty as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.
• All interest accruals for outstanding balances have been suspended as of April 3, 2020.
• Interest accruals will resume on July 16, 2020.

COVID-19 Update - April 6, 2020:

Effective March 31, 2020, Governor Janet Mills signed an Executive Order extending the April 1, 2020 application deadline for certain property exemptions.

• The Executive Order extends the April 1, 2020 deadline to either the commitment date of the municipality, or 30 days after the termination of the declared emergency, whichever occurs first.

COVID-19 Update - April 4, 2020:

Governor Janet Mills has issued an Executive Order mandating a quarantine restriction on travelers arriving in Maine to protect public health and safety. The order is effective immediately and extends until at least April 30, 2020.

• The Order mandates that, travelers arriving in Maine, regardless of their state of residency, are to self-quarantine for 14 days to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, effective immediately.

Resource Recycling Facility

The Resource Recovery Facility will be observing an updated temporary schedule change, in order to keep everyone safe and ensure proper social distancing at the facility.  Effective Monday, April 6, 2020, the Resource Recovery Facility will be open Monday through Thursday, from 7:15 AM - 3:15 PM and Friday from 7:15 AM - 5:00 PM. The facility will remain open for it’s regular operating hours through Saturday, April 4, 2020.

Residents are asked to do their part in following all updated signage and social distancing measures while at the facility.  The threat of COVID-19 is real, and it’s important that residents take precautions to avoid spreading the virus. Please maintain a safe social distance (6 feet) from staff and each other at all times, and remain inside vehicles unless depositing waste in the bins.  

Due to these measures, delays may be expected.  To reduce the potential for delays, residents are encouraged to sort plastics before arriving at the facility.  Pre-sorting of plastics will significantly reduce wait times during peak hours.

Governor Janet Mills has issued a statewide Stay Healthy at Home Executive Order.  Only “construction and maintenance of essential infrastructure” is considered to be essential under this order.  

Due to this measure, all in-person, and on-site inspections have been suspended until further notice.  We encourage everyone to abide by the Executive Order to the greatest extent possible, but understand that some projects may be required to move forward.

COVID-19 Update - March 31, 2020 Cont:

Governor Janet Mills has issued a “Stay Healthy at Home” Executive Order mandating the following, effective April 2, 2020 at 12:01 AM through April 30, 2020:

• People living in Maine are required to stay at home at all times unless for an essential job, or an essential personal reason, such as obtaining food, medicine, health care or other necessary purpose.

The Governor also mandated a series of other new restrictions, and extended the closure of restaurants and bars statewide for dine-in customers until at least April 30, 2020, to align with today’s Executive Order.

COVID-19 Update - March 31, 2020:

Resource Recovery Facility

To allow the Kittery Resource Recovery Facility to remain open, we ask that residents follow all updated signage and social distancing measures while at the facility.  At this time, the facility has been reduced to two lanes, with barricades positioned to allow for movement on both sides of vehicles. We ask that everyone visiting the facility maintain a safe social distance (6 feet) from staff and each other at all times, and remain inside your vehicles unless you are depositing waste in the bins.

Due to these measures, delays may be expected.  To reduce the potential for delays, residents are encouraged to sort plastics before arriving at the facility.  Pre-sorting of plastics will significantly reduce wait times during peak hours.

As a reminder, acceptable plastics:

• #1 PET - All plastic bottles and jars, any color.
• #2 HPDE Natural - Containers such as milk jugs, gallon sized water containers, and some juice containers.
• #2 HPDE Colored - Containers such as laundry detergent, shampoo containers, and white milk jugs.
• #5 Plastics - Containers such as yogurt cups, butter tubs, lids, caps and takeout containers. 

The Resource Recovery Facility does not accept drinking cups, straws or anything black.  These unacceptable materials can now go into household trash.

The Hazardous Waste section of the facility including the landfill and compost area are closed until further notice.  The Freebie Barn will remain closed until further notice as well.

COVID-19 Update - March 25, 2020:

Fire Department

Effective immediately, per Fire Chief David O’Brien, the Town of Kittery will no longer be issuing fire permits. This includes permits issued at the Kittery Police Department and permits issued through the Maine Online Burn Permit System. This is being done to ensure the safety of our firefighters.

Outdoor warming and cooking fires (campfires) are still allowed as they do not require a burn permit. Please ensure all warming and cooking fires are kept small, are using the proper fuels, are monitored 100% of the time and are extinguished completely after use. No outdoor warming and cooking fires will be allowed on any town owned/controlled property during this period.

We will continue to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, and will determine when burn permits will be available.

Resource Recovery Facility

The Kittery Resource Recovery Facility remains open at this time. The health and safety of our staff and the community is our top priority, so we ask that residents accessing the facility do their part by observing proper social distancing while disposing of waste. This means maintaining a safe social distance (6 feet) from staff and each other at all times, and remaining in your vehicle unless you are depositing waste in the bins.

The Hazardous Waste section of the facility, along with the Freebie Barn will remain closed until further notice.

COVID-19 Update - March 24, 2020:

The Town Manager has issued an Emergency Proclamation, effective 12:00 AM on March 25, 2020 until further notice - Fort Foster, Seapoint Beach and Crescent Beach will be closed for public use.  Parking will be prohibited as posted around and near the entrances to these areas.

COVID-19 Update - March 18, 2020:

Governor Janet Mills has issued an Executive Order mandating the following, effective March 18, 2020 at 6:00 PM for a period of 14 days until midnight, March 31, 2020:

• The closure of all dine-in facilities at all restaurants
  • All restaurants and bars shall close their dine-in facilities. Such businesses that offer carry-out, delivery, and drive-through food and beverage service may continue to do so but eating and drinking inside restaurants and bars is temporarily prohibited.
  • Such businesses offering carry-out, delivery, and drive-through food and beverage, should employ social distancing best practices and minimize the gathering of customers.

Residents are encouraged to continue to support Kittery establishments by purchasing take-out meals or by buying gift cards.  For a list of the restaurants offering take-out or delivery service, please click here.

• The prohibition of gatherings of more than 10 people
  • Gatherings subject to this Order are those that are primarily social, personal, and discretionary events, not work-related events. Such gatherings include, without limitation, community, civic, public, leisure, faith-based events; social clubs; sporting events with spectators; concerts, conventions, fundraisers, parades, fairs, and festivals; and any similar event or activity in a venue such as an auditorium, stadium, arena, large conference room, meeting hall, theater, gymnasium, fitness center or private club.

The Governor’s Order will be reviewed prior to its expiration date for a determination of the need for revision and renewal.

We appreciate voluntary compliance from Kittery’s establishments and recognize the difficult burdens these prohibitions place on businesses and their employees.

The Town of Kittery will be monitoring establishments and will take appropriate action if, and when needed.

In addition, Governor Mills strongly urged non-essential public-facing businesses, such as gyms, hair salons, theatres, casinos, shopping malls, to close their doors for the next two weeks to minimize public gatherings.

This does not include businesses that provide essential services including, but not limited to: food processing, agriculture, industrial manufacturing, construction, trash collection, grocery and household goods (including convenience stores), home repair and hardware and auto repair, pharmacy and other medical facilities, biomedical and health care, child care, post offices and shipping outlets, insurance, banks, gas stations, laundromats, veterinary clinics and animal feed and supply stores, shipping stores, public transportation, and hotel and commercial lodging.

Although these businesses may remain open, Governor Mills strongly urged Maine people to implement social distancing measures and to be thoughtful about the need to visit these businesses.

Local businesses and restaurants are asked to follow CDC guidelines to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Reduced hours, take-out/delivery service, and other measures are strongly encouraged during this time.

COVID-19 Update - March 14, 2020:

The Town of Kittery’s pandemic plan is designed to coordinate with the Kittery School Department when practicable. Our shared goal is to keep our community safe by reducing the risk of exposure to and incidents of COVID-19 in our community.

The Kittery School Department announced today it will be closing schools for two weeks beginning March 16, 2020.

In keeping with our pandemic plans, various town operations will follow suit.  No direct customer contact will take place during this time. We are closely monitoring both the pandemic status in Maine and in Portsmouth and will make additional decisions, and provide updates as the situation warrants.

• The Kittery Community Center, including all preschool and afterschool programming will be closed for two weeks, beginning March 16, 2020, through March 29, 2020.
• The Rice Public Library will be closed for two weeks, beginning March 16, 2020, through March 29, 2020.
  • Many services, resources and materials will continue to be available online.  The Rice Public Library’s website can be accessed by visiting http://www.rice.lib.me.us/ or clicking here.
• Kittery Town Hall will be closed to customers for two weeks, beginning, March 16, 2020, through March 29, 2020.
  • Many online services are available to assist with licensing, permitting, vital record requests, online payments and more.  Online services can be accessed by visiting http://www.kitteryme.gov/home/pages/onlineservices or clicking here.
  • To assist customers who are unable to access online services, applications and requests including, but not limited to, vital record requests, liquor and victualer's applications, and building permits will be available in hard copy in the Town Hall lobby.  These documents can be completed and submitted in the drop-box at Town Hall.
  • Customers may also call in to Town Hall to receive service and make payments via phone.
• If residents have additional special needs that require monitoring by public safety, they are encouraged to sign-up by filling out the Fire Department inclement Weather Special Needs form available at www.kitteryme.gov/specialneedsrequest or by clicking here.

COVID-19 Update - March 11, 2020:

The Town of Kittery is actively monitoring updates from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, along with the Maine CDC regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19).  Our first responders and public safety staff continue to receive information and participate in safety briefings with the Maine CDC. Town employees have been provided with guidance to protect themselves and the public.

The Town of Kittery has protocols in place and is prepared to respond as conditions warrant.  The Town will be making decisions based on the most recent information available and will post updates regarding events, meetings and public activities as soon as new information is available.

What is COVID-19:

COVID-19 is a novel (new) coronavirus which was first detected in December 2019 in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China and has now been detected in other countries, including the United States.

For some, the respiratory virus causes mild symptoms like the common cold or influenza (flu), for others it can cause severe pneumonia that requires medical care or hospitalization.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms of COVID-19 may include:

• Fever
• Cough
• Difficulty breathing
• Sore throat (in some patients)

Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.  Most patients experience mild symptoms and can recuperate at home, but others, particularly those with underlying medical conditions, may experience more severe respiratory illness.

How does it spread?

• There are simple steps you can take to reduce the possible spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses such as influenza and the common cold:
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
• Stay home while you're sick and avoid close contact with others
• Currently there is no vaccine available to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

What should I do if I have symptoms?

Call ahead to a health care professional if you develop a fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or difficulty breathing. Tell your health care professional about any recent travel or contact with other COVID-19 cases. Your healthcare professional will work with Maine CDC to determine if you need to be tested for COVID-19.
