Test of Outbound Traffic Improvement Efforts at Gate 2 - June 24 & June 25

Shipyard traffic test Kittery

The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, in partnership with the Town of Kittery, Security, and Naval Security Force personnel, will be implementing a test of an exploratory traffic improvement effort for vehicles exiting the shipyard via Gate 2.  The test will take place Wednesday, June 24 and Thursday, June 25 from 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM.

During the test, a Town of Kittery Police Officer will be temporarily stationed outside of Gate 2 as a means of manual traffic control.  Increased shipyard traffic and delays are expected on Rogers Road during this time.  The safety of our residents, travelers and staff is always a concern, so please be sure to drive carefully, and follow traffic directions at all times.

This temporary experiment is part of a continued effort to address the impacts of shipyard traffic. Traffic data and information gathered during these exploratory efforts are critical to the establishment of long term traffic improvements.

Your continued patience is appreciated as we evaluate these exploratory improvements and assess overall effectiveness.
