Summer 2023 projects will utilize flexible posts and temporary pavement markings to test designs targeted at improving safety at the intersection of Shapleigh Road, Whipple Road and Woodlawn Avenue, creating temporary bike lanes on Shapleigh Road, between Whipple Road and Manson Avenue, and creating crosswalks to John Paul Jones Park on both sides of Route 1 (Newmarch Street and Hunter Avenue).
The demonstration projects are expected to be in place from late June through mid-October, 2023. For more information and photos of each project, please see below:

- Improve safety for motorists moving through the intersection
- Enhance conditions for cyclists and pedestrians using existing paved shoulders
- Reinforce safety measures installed at the intersection of Shapleigh/ Whipple/ Woodlawn
- Increase traffic calming and reduce speeds due to narrower lanes
John Paul Jones Park Crosswalks
