Spring is here in Kittery and the wildlife, bees, birds and other insects that make Fort Foster their home are sure to follow.  Areas throughout Fort Foster that these species call home are being threatened by invasive Bittersweet vines and we need your help!

Join the Town of Kittery and the Parks Commission for Bittersweet Blitz, an Invasive Plant Management event, from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

Bittersweet Blitz is an all-ages volunteer event that focuses on the cutting and removal of invasive Bittersweet vines threatening the native plants and wildlife at Fort Foster.  Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to meet in the Fort Foster parking lot at 10:00 AM on Saturday.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear long sleeves and pants, wear eye protection and bring pruners or loppers if available.  Minors participating in the event must be accompanied by an adult.

If you have questions or would like to find out if extra tools are available, please contact Kittery Parks Commission member Denise Payne at 207-439-2203.

Thank you for protecting this vital natural resource against invasive plants and helping to keep Fort Foster healthy and beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
