Get Involved Town of Kittery Boards and Committees

New Year, new opportunities to make an impact!  Are you interested in becoming more involved in the Kittery community in 2023?  Kickstart your efforts by joining a Town of Kittery Board, Committee or Commission.

The Town of Kittery is seeking volunteers with unique ideas, problem-solving abilities and personal experience to help shape the future of Kittery. 

At this time, the Town is seeking volunteers to fill the following open seats:

  • Board of Appeals
    • 2 full member seats
  • Board of Assessment Review
    • 1 member, 1 alternate

Why should I join a board or committee?

  • Learn about local government and find new ways to address community challenges and concerns.
  • Meet new people with various talents and share ideas that make a difference.

The Board of Appeals

  • What they do: the Board of Appeals hears and decides on administrative decision appeals, variance requests and miscellaneous various requests.
  • When they meet: the Board of Appeals meets as needed, generally on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM in Council Chambers.  Meetings can be attended in-person, or via Zoom.

The Board of Assessment Review

  • What they do: the Board of Assessment Review hears and reviews real estate and personal property appeals made by taxpayers on abatement decisions made by the Assessor. 
  • When they meet: the Board of Assessment Review meets as needed, in Council Chambers.  Meetings can be attended in person, or via Zoom.
