Apparatus

The Kittery Fire Department operates out of two station located at Gorges Road and Lewis Square. Each station has the apparatus and equipment strategically located to best support the needs for our emergency responses. Below are the apparatus, descriptions and their designated stations.

Engine 1 (E1) - Lewis Square Station
E1 is a 2004 Pierce Enforcer with a 1500 GPM pump and carrying 500 gallons of water on board. E1 serves as a second due engine with the ability to pump for structural fires. E1 is also the mutual aid engine to our neighboring communities. E1 was formerly E5 before going through a thorough refurbishment in 2019 to extend the lifetime of the apparatus.

Ladder 2 (L2) - Gorges Road Station
L2 is a 2009 Pierce Arrow XT Quint. L2's pump capacity is 1,500 GPM with a 500 gallon booster tank and also has a 75' aerial ladder. The ladder provides our Fire Department with an elevated waterway for structural fires and also an improved ability to perform various rescues both during fires and other emergencies. L2 is the first due ladder in Kittery, but also goes mutual aid to nearby communities.

Rescue 3 (R3) - Gorges Road Station
R3 is a 2001 Pierce Saber serving as a heavy rescue. R3 also is equipped with  a 300 GPM pump with 343 gallons on board. This truck carries our  Holmatro tools for extrication, HazMat incident mitigation equipment, ropes rescue equipment and many other rescue tools.

Forestry 4 (F4) - Lewis Square Station
F4 is a 2006 Ford F350 4x4. A skid unit equipped with a pump and a 250 gallon tank for outdoor/woods fires has been added to the truck. During Winter months, F4's pump is freeze protected and the tank is drained to allow this truck to still respond to calls.


Engine 5 (E5) - Gorges Road Station
E5 is a 2019 KME Custom Engine with a 1500 GPM pump and carrying 750 gallons of water on board. This engine features a light tower giving us the ability to illuminate scenes making operations safer for our personnel. E5 is our mutual aid engine and supports our neighbors in need.

Tank 6 (T6) - Gorges Road Station
T6 is a 2007 Mack Granite KME carrying 3,000 gallons of water with a 750 GPM pump. This truck is used in rural fire fighting situations when hydrant water supply is no sufficient or not available. This truck goes mutual aid to neighboring communities.

Utility 8 (U8) - Gorges Road Station
U8 is a 2015 Ford F150 XL. This is primarily used to transport personnel and equipment. Following fires, U8 is able to transport clean gear to respondering fire personnel as a part of the cancer prevention program.


Zodiac Rescue Boat - Gorges Road Station
Our new Inflatable Rescue Boat was purchased by the Kittery Firefighters Association and donated to the town in 2020. This 14 foot boat is powered by a 30 horsepower Evinrude RescuePro outboard. This boat is used to perform rescues from the various bodies of water in Kittery and nearby communities that are inaccessible by larger vessels. The boat is light enough to be carried and deployed by a few personnel. 


Car 1
Car 1 is a 2016 Chevy Tahoe. This car is typically driven by the Chief of the Department and has all the tools and equipment needed to manage an emergency incident.
