Adopt A Road Program - April 2019

Adopt A Road Kittery

Spring greetings to our valued Adopt-A-Road volunteers.  We hope you enjoyed the winter and are looking forward to the spring.  We are!

We’re happy to report that we have 2 new road adopters.  Our volunteers continue to make a difference by cleaning over 40 road segments in Kittery.  Impressive!  After the snow and ice melt, we’ll see the usual spring-cleaning efforts underway.  For more information on the program, look for the Conservation Commission page on the Town's website and click on the Adopt-A-Road Program or visit www.kitteryme.gov/aar.  Please take a few moments to review the Safety Checklist on the the Adopt-A-Road page, which can also be found by clicking here.  If you prefer, you can pick up a copy at Town Hall.

We’re continuing our experiment with asking our adopters to fill out a short and simple status report.  It’s a one-page form that briefly describes their cleanup efforts.  You’ll find it at the Conservation Commission’s web page.  Feedback so far is that it was easy to fill out the form, so we hope that it will catch on.  In our data-driven world,  it’s great to be able to detail our successes with information from our adopters. It will take just a few minutes to fill it in and send it to AdoptKitteryRoads@gmail.com.  If you prefer, you can pop it in the mail or drop it off at the Town Hall.

We are also looking for your help in keeping our records up-to-date.  Thanks to you, we have an impressive list of adopted roads.  New adopters and other residents are asking us to let them know of available areas.  You’ll be receiving an email or phone call from us to confirm the road or road segment that you adopted.  If you prefer, just send us an email with the road information.

There are other opportunities to volunteer and help keep our town looking beautiful.  Look for dates on the commission’s web page and consider joining us for a good time that improves the quality and beauty of our shoreline and town.
