Kittery Memorial Day Parade - May 26

Kittery Memorial Day Parade 2018

On Saturday, May 26th, Kittery will hold its annual Memorial Day parade.  The parade will begin at 9:00 AM, leaving from the old fire station on Walker Street, and proceed up Whipple Road to Shapleigh Road and end at the Orchard Grove Cemetery where a service will be held.  Join your friends and neighbors as Kittery honors its fallen heroes.  The parade will feature familiar town faces, the Kittery Schools’ marching bands, local volunteers, military personnel, veterans and more.  Douglas Burnell and March Schremmer will serve as the parade Grand Marshals this year.

Douglas Burnell is a retired Navy Seabee who served in Korea and Vietnam.  He's a member of the local Lion's Club, and acted as the former President, Post Commander and District Commander of the Kittery/Eliot 9394 VFW.  Throughout his career, Mr. Burnell has received many prestigious citations from both the military and VFW.

Mark Schremmer is a retired member of the United States Marine Corps.  He's a former Post Commander of the Kittery/Eliot 9394 VFW.  Throughout his career, Mr. Schremmer has also received multiple distinguished citations and awards from both the USMC and VFW.

On May 24th, in preparation for the parade event, the Kittery/Eliot VFW Post 9394 will be flagging grave sites at the Orchard Grove Cemetery, starting at 5:30 PM with the help of the local Scouts, Kittery Brownie Troop, and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard volunteers.  Anyone with an interest in helping is welcome to join.
