The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides money to help low income homeowners and renters pay for heating costs.
 
The Low Income Assistance Plan (LIAP) helps low-income homeowners and renters pay for electricity costs by providing a credit on their electric bills.
 
Weatherization Program and Central Heating Improvement Program (CHIP) provides grants to low-income homeowners and renters to reduce energy costs by improving home energy efficiency.
 
Appliance Replacement Program helps low-income people to reduce their energy costs by replacing older home appliances that are inefficient and expensive to operate.
 
Home Energy Loan Program (HELP) offers loans at a low fixed rate for home improvements that increase home energy efficiency.
 
KVCAP may also be used as a contact point for many of these programs

Current Incentive Programs

Solar Thermal Incentive (Hot water heater)
Solar thermal systems designed to heat water and air qualify for a federal income tax credit of 30% of the cost of the system, through the Federal Investment Tax Credit.
Solar PV systems qualify for a federal income tax credit of %30 of the cost of the system through the Federal Investment Tax Credit.  These systems can be used to provide electricity to power your home.
 
Choosing an Electric Supplier
Your electricity comprised a "supply" charge, a "delivery" charge and a "service" charge.  Due to deregulation, the energy company that delivers your energy, Central Maine Power (CMP), does not directly sell you the electricity supply.  You have a choice from whom you buy your power from.  The following website shows current choices:
